Bhubaneswar: Mercury dropped further to 8.5°C in Daringbadi, making it the coldest place in Odisha for the second consecutive day on Friday.
The hill station in Kandhamal district had recorded 9°C the previous day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast a further fall in the night temperature by 2-3°C across the state.
Besides Daringbadi, Angul at 9°C and Jharsuguda and Rourkela at 9.6°C each were the only other places in the state to record temperatures below 10°C in the last 24 hours. Phulbani and G Udayagiri, also in Kandhamal, recorded 10°C and 10.4°C respectively, followed by Semiliguda in Koraput at 10.6°C, Koraput at 11.4°C, Sundargarh at 11.6°C and Bhawanipatna at 11.8°C.
The mercury dropped below 15°C in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar (14°C) and Cuttack (13.2°C).
The weather agency has predicted no further fall in the night temperature during the next seven days.
