Odisha Fights Back: Nine-Year-Old Donates Savings To Help Covid-19 Affected People

Bhubaneswar: A nine-year-old child living in the Odisha capital has come forward to help corona victims. He has donated money to the government fund from his savings in the piggy bank.

“I saw that my father and mother were donating money to the CM and PM funds. I was inspired by them. I had some money in my piggy bank. I broke the piggy bank to donate my savings to the government to help the COVID-19 affected people,” said Rajveer Das.

“I had saved Rs 2,020. I gave Rs 1,010 to the PM CARES Fund and rest to the CM’s Relief Fund,” he said.

“My parents and grandparents had given that money to me on differen occassions,” he added.

Rajveer is a Class-IV student of Mother’s Public School in the city.

“This virus is really very dangerous. We should not go out. I am spending my time with my parents. Besides, I am watching Ramayan, studying and playing indoor games,” said Rajveer.

“Rajveer’s birthday was on April 8. This year we have not celebrated his birthday. My wife and I donated money to both the PM and CM funds on that day. When he came to know about it, he expressed his desire to donate money from his piggy bank,” said his father, Thakur Ranjit Das.
