Jajpur: The Jajpur district administration on Wednesday extended the containment period in Brahmabarada and its 10 adjoining areas till April 12.
Briefing the media here, Jajpur Collector Ranjan Kumar Das said that the containment period was scheduled to end this evening. “A decision to extend it was taken since surveillance work in the area is yet to be completed,” he said.
The first COVID-19 positive patient in the district was detected in Brahmabarada four days ago and since then no other case have been reported in the district, he said.
The collector further said that the district administration in association with the Tata Medical Hospital has set up a COVID hospital and it will become operational either on April 10 or 11. “Recruitment of doctors and para-medical staff and procurement of medical equipment for the hospital have been completed,” he added.
Referring to the lockdown violations in the district, Das said hundreds of bikes were seized on Wednesday. “A case will be registered and the seized vehicles will be released with a penalty after the situation becomes normal,” he added.
