Berhampur: To contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ganjam administration will start door-to-door (D2D) health screening on Thursday.
With COVID-19 positive cases spiking on a daily basis and fear of community transmission looming large in Ganjam district, the administration has announced a five-day shutdown from July 9-13.
The district administration announced the complete shutdown for five days at 16 NACs of the district, Hinjilicut municipality, all block headquarters, Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area along with Sanakhemundi, Shergarh, Patrapur, Dharakota, and Jagannathprasad block.
It will be conducted through 200 doctors’ teams. Each team will comprise one doctor and two Anganwadi workers. The teams would carry out door to door screenings to identify people with flu and influenza-like symptoms. The district administration has sought cooperation from all residents of the urban areas for the proposed shutdown.
Since people are not following social distancing norms and not wearing masks, there is no other option to check the spread of the virus, a block official said.
Essential services like goods, medical stores, agriculture and health will continue unhindered.
