Odisha Fights COVID-19: Masks Must For Buying Essential Items In Ganjam, Says Collector

Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration on Thursday mandated that the people not wearing masks will be deprived of essential commodities during the lockdown period.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said he has directed retailers to put up stickers at their shops in this regard and sell groceries, fruits, vegetables and medicines to only those wearing masks.

“Action will be taken against any retailer for proving these items to people not wearing masks,” the collector added.

Also, the health screening of people in Ganjam district began on Thursday. The district administration has decided to complete the process within three days.

Following the return of 28,000 people to the district from other affected states, the district administration had decided to go for a mandatory health screening of about 40 lakh people to contain the spread of the virus.
