Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Fire Services Department has taken adequate measures to prevent untoward incidents during Diwali, Chief Fire Officer Sukant Sethi said on Saturday.
Sethi informed that around 5,000 Fire Services personnel and 350 officers were deployed in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other cities in the state for the festival on Sunday.
“We have kept 900 fire-fighting vehicles ready and alerted all 337 fire stations in the state. Besides, five temporary fire stations have been set up at vantage points in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for immediate action. We have also set up temporary fire stations in Balasore, Bargarh, Berhampur and Sambalpur for this purpose,” he added.
He further informed that special fire-fighting bikes have been stationed in these cities to tackle fires in lanes.
