Bhubaneswar: In view to flood situation and severe waterlogging, local authorities in Bhadrak and Jajpur districts have ordered for closure of educational institutions on Friday as a precautionary measure.
In Jajpur district, the administration suspended classes across 313 government, government-aided, and private schools covering elementary through higher secondary levels. These institutions are in eight blocks of Binjharpur, Jajpur, Bari, Dharmasala, Dasarathpur, Badachana, Korei, and Rasulpur, while schools in the remaining parts of the district will continue to function as usual.
Official directives issued by the District Education Office specify that although academic activities are temporarily halted, school premises must remain fully accessible to local officials to serve as emergency shelters and operational hubs for ongoing rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.
A similar precautionary measure has been taken in neighbouring Bhadrak district, where the District Collector ordered a holiday for 205 schools alongside 265 Anganwadi centres in four heavily impacted blocks of Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar, and Chandbali. Copies of the administrative orders have been dispatched to Block Education Officers, headmasters, and state departments to coordinate the dual mandate of keeping children safe while leveraging school infrastructure to support flood-affected communities.
