Odisha Forest Officer Death: Police To Grill ACF’s Widow, Mother & Brother

Paralakhemundi: A six-member police team set out for Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts on Sunday as part of the investigation into the death of Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra of Gajapati district.

The team led by the IIC of Paralakhemundi Town Police Station Bibekanand Swain will interrogate Mohapatra’s widow, Bidya Bharati Panda, in Mayurbhanj and his elder brother and mother in Balasore district.

A day earlier on Saturday, SP (Gajapati) Tapan Kumar Patnaik had gone to the deceased ACF’s residence for an on-the-spot investigation.

He later told the media that police have recorded the statements of Mohapatra’s father, uncle, brother and a friend.

He said on the basis of the statements, police will question the deceased’s wife, mother and brother.

The SP said police will also interrogate DFO (Paralakhemundi) Sangram Keshari Behera.

Notably, the deceased ACF had complained to his mother and brother about job stress and unrest in his family.
