Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Forester, Koraput Forest Division, Niranjan Satapathy, for allegedly amassing huge assets, including two triple-storey buildings and plots in Bhubaneswar, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Forester was placed under arrest after Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at properties linked to him and unearthed the assets owned by him.
A Vigilance press release said on Saturday that Satapathy will be forwarded to the Court of the Special Judge in Bhubaneswar.
Based on searches conducted on properties of Satapathy, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including two multi-storey palatial buildings at Bhubaneswar and one in Koraput, 7 high value plots, around 1 kg gold, deposits of Rs.66.42 lakhs, cash to the tune of Rs.9.28 lakhs, and a four-wheeler, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
A case has been registered against Satapathy and further investigation is in progress.
