Odisha Gets Rs 10,536 Cr Allocation In Rail Budget; Rs 524 Cr More Than Last Year
New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been allocated funds to the tune of Rs 10,536 crore for Railways in the interim Union Budget for the year 2024-25 announced on Thursday,
This was stated by Railway Minister Ashiwini Vaishnaw after the interim budget was presented in Parliament.
The Railway Minister told reporters that an allocation of Rs 10,536 crore has been made in rail sector for of Odisha. The state has got Rs 524 crore more than the allocation made last year. Budget is 50 per cent of the freight revenue of the East Coast Railway (ECoR).
For the last three years, Odisha has been getting Rs 10,000 crore on an average per year for railways, Vaishnaw said.
In the 2023-24 Railway Budget, Odisha got Rs 10,012-crore, while the allocation was Rs 9734 crore in 2022-23.
The Minister further stated that funds to the tune of Rs 52,000 crore will be invested in new railway projects in the state in days to come. While adequate funds are being allocated for Odisha by the Narendra Modi government, 100 per cent electrification of the railways has already been been achieved in the state, he said.
