Odisha Gets Rs 4373 Cr In Rail Budget

Bhubaneswar: The Union Budget 2020-21 has allocated Rs 4373 crore for the railway sector of Odisha, registering a slump of Rs 220 crore from last year’s outlay (Rs 4593 crore).

Out of the total allocation of Rs 5865 crore for the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the share of allocation for Odisha is Rs 4373 crore.

Last year, the total outlay for projects in Odisha was Rs 4593 crore. But as the NTPC had invested Rs 1400 crore for the construction of Jharsuguda-Barapali coal corridor, the total project fund for Odisha was Rs 5993 crore. However, this amount (Rs 1400 crore) is not included this year as the project got commissioned last year. There is no investment from NTPC in this or other such project this year as the work is complete.

Allocation for the following railway projects in Odisha is as follows:

New Lines
Angul-Sukinda Road (98.7 km) new line: Rs 450 crore
Haridaspur-Paradip (82 km) new line: Rs 100 crore
Khurda Road-Balangir (289 km) new line: Rs 520 crore
Talcher-Bimlagarh (1 54 km) new line: Rs 140 crore
Jeypore-Malkangiri (130 km) new line: Rs 33 crore
Jeypore-Nabarangpur (38 km ) new line: Rs 20 crore
Khurda Road-Vizianagaram bypass: Rs 20 crore
Nuapada-Gunupur extension up to Theruvali 79.45 kms (sanctioned last year): Rs 1 lakh
Gopalpur to Sambalpur via Phulbani (sanctioned this year): Rs 1 lakh
Talcher-Angul – New line with Y-connection at Talcher 14.5 km: Rs 1 lakh

Doubling Works

Sambalpur-Talcher (174.11 km) Doubling: Rs 292 crore
Sambalpur-Titilagarh (182.11 km) Doubling: Rs 382 crore
Titilagarh-Vizianagaram 3rd Line (264.6 km): Rs 380 crore
Bansapani-Daitari-Tomka-Jakhapura (180 km) : Rs 180 crore
Brundamal-Jharsuguda-Flyover connection for joining down line (6.6 km): Rs 10 crore
Bhadrak-Nergundi-3rd line (80 km): Rs 102 crore
Jarapada-Budhapanka (3rd and 4th line): Rs 111 crore
Budhapanka-Salegaon (3rd and 4th line): Rs 205 crore
Koraput-Singapore Road: Rs 210 crore
Jagadalpur-Koraput (110 km): Rs 130 crore
Kottavalasa-Koraput (189 km): Rs 196 crore
Raipur-Titlagarh (203 km): Rs 146 crore
Khurda Road-Barang 3rd line: Rs 35 crore
Jharsuguda-Bilaspur 4th line (206 km): Rs 280 crore
Baghuapal Flyover: Rs 10 crore
Manoharpur-Bondamunda 3rd line: Rs 35 crore
Rourkela-Jharsuguda 3rd line: Rs 170 crore
Bondamunda-Ranchi doubling: Rs 20 crore
Narayangarh-Bhadrak 3rd line: Rs 50 crore
Bondamunda-RourkeIa 4th line: Rs 23 crore
Champa-Jharsuguda 3rd line: Rs 20 crore

Workshop and Other Important Works

Angul Electric Loco Shed-Augmentation of holding capacity from 100 engines to 150: Rs 4 crore
Maneswar (Sarla Road): Freight train maintenance facility: Rs 20 crore
Kalahandi: Setting up of electric engine overhauling workshop: Rs 1 crore
Railway electrification: Rs 180 crore.

All major projects have got a significant increase in allotment, which has been made on the basis of the need of each project and requirement at site.

Khurda Road-Balangir line has been given Rs 520 crore against Rs 350 crore last year. The Prime Minister has stressed upon early completion of this important project.

Angul-Sukinda project has got Rs 450 crore against Rs 250 crore last year.

Haridaspur-Paradip project will be commissioned this year by March. Only Rs 100 crore has been allotted as the project is nearing completion. This project was allotted Rs 400 crore last year.

There is a significant increase in allotment towards doubling projects especially, Sambalpur-Talcher, Sambalpur-Titilagarh, Titilagarh-Rayagada and Titilagarh-Raipur.

Electrification of Khurda Road-Balangir line and Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh Road line has been given priority.

Wagon Repair Workshop at Maneswar near Sambalpur has been given a substantial amount of Rs 20 crore.

To enhance safety, elimination of level crossings by constructing road overbridge (ROBs) and road under bridges (RUBs) have been given top priority and works costing Rs 1165 crore have been sanctioned.
