Bhubaneswar: In the highest ever Railway allotment to Odisha, the Centre on Wednesday earmarked Rs 5,993 crore for the state in the Budget for 2019-20.
This is up from the Rs 5,940 crore allotted in the interim Budget. Last year, the amount was Rs 5,252 crore.
While Rs 1,400 crore is earmarked for the completion of ongoing railway projects and laying new railway tracks, provisions are made in the budget to set up two automatic washing plants at Bhubaneswar Coach Depo, the construction of a flyover at Baghuapal railway station and a survey for the construction of 10 flyovers.
Besides, Rs 180 crore is earmarked to provide better service to passengers.
The highlights of the Railway budget for Odisha are:

—Rs 400 crore for Haridaspur-Paradip railway line
—Rs 150 crore for Talcher-Bimalagarh railway line
—Rs 70 crore for Jeypore-Malkangiri railway line
—Rs 10 crore for Jeypore-Nabarangpur railway line
—Rs 205 crore for Koraput-Singapur Road railway line
—Rs 249 crore for doubling of Sambalpur-Talcher railway line
—Rs 170 crore for doubling of Sambalpur-Titlagarh railway line
—Rs 86 crore for Bhadrak-Nirgundi third railway line
—Rs 350 crore for Vizianagaram-Sambalpur third railway line
—Rs 1 crore for the Locomotive Workshop in Kalahandi
