Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal has decided not to host the ‘At Home’ function at Raj Bhavan, here on the occasion of Independence Day this year.
The Governor took the decision considering the COVID-19 pandemic, besides the restrictions imposed by the state government on gathering.
“Due to the prevailing Covidpandemic in the country and keeping in view the desired precautions required to be taken in matters of social gatherings and ceremonies, Hon’ble Governor has decided not to host the At Home function on the occasion of IndependenceDay2020,” read a tweet of the Governor.
In an advisory issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for Independence Day celebrations earlier, all government offices, states and governors had been asked to avoid the congregation of public.
Last year also, Ganeshi Lal had cancelled the ‘At Home’ party at Raj Bhavan showing solidarity with the people affected by cyclone Fani.
