Odisha Govt Allows Forest Staff To Conduct Location Tracking Of Poachers
Bhubaneswar: In order to protect the wildlife from poaching, the Odisha government has allowed Forest officials to conduct location tracking and check call details of the suspected hunters.
This was stated by Sushil Kumar Popli, Principal Chief Conservator (PCCF) of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden while speaking at the concluding function of 69th state-level Vana Mahotsav on Saturday.
The PCCF said now the Forest officials can trace the suspected hunters and nab them by tracking their movements from the mobile phones.
Besides, the Forest officials are being imparted training on firing so that they can combat the poachers during raids and encounters. So far, 90 Forest officials have completed the training, Popli said adding that others would undergo training in phases.
Chief Minister Naveen addressed the event through video-conference while Pradip Kumar Amat and Devidutt participated.
