Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday announced KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scholarship for 7258 students of the state.
Informing this to the media after presiding over a high-level meeting here, Agriculture minister Arun Sahoo said 19,247 students of 187 colleges had applied for KALIA scholarship. Among them, 7258 students were selected. A total of 661 applicants were recommended by nodal officers, he added.
In February, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced ‘KALIA Chhatravritti Yojana’ for the children of farmers, who are the beneficiaries of the KALIA scheme.
Under this scheme, children of the beneficiaries will be provided scholarships for pursuing higher education in professional courses free of cost. The children, who have taken admission in government professional colleges on merit basis, are eligible for it.
