Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday appointed Babita Patra as the chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR).
Patra, a resident of Mayur Vihar in Berhampur, will hold the office for a term of three years from the day she takes charge or until she attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier, the official notification issued by Women and Child Development department said.
Alongside this, the government has also notified the appointment of six members to the rights panel for a tenure of three years or until they attain the age of sixty years, whichever is earlier.
The appointed members are:
1. Sukeshi Oram
2. Kalpana Lenka
3. Chandana Das
4. Kasturi Mishra
5. Manasmita Khuntia
6. Sujata Nayak
In March, the government dismissed the then OSCPCR chairperson Mandakini Kar, and five other members — Sasmita Nanda, Ruby Vishal, Susri Jalina Priyadarshini, Chhabi Mahali and Anita Behera, on various allegations against them. They were issued a show-cause notice on November 16, 2024, which they challenged in Orissa High Court but was dismissed.
