Bhubaneswar: Following students’ protest against Board examinations of Classes X and XII, the state government has directed the BSE and CHSE to take a decision on the matter.
Speaking to media persons, here on Sunday, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said the government will take a decision on the matter after getting the reports of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). The BSE conducts the Class X examinations and CHSE those of Class XII students.
Both BSE and CHSE have been asked to hold consultations with all stakeholders including school authorities, teachers, students, parents and experts and prepare their reports.
The minister said his department will take the decision on holding the Board examinations after reviewing the reports of BSE and CHSE and considering the prevalent COVID situation in the state.
Earlier this month, chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra had said the students must prepare for the board examinations to be conducted offline.
It had led the students across the state to come out to streets in protest. A section of them contended that the examinations should be cancelled while another group maintained that those should be postponed. But they were unanimous that the school and college authorities should complete the courses before going for conducting the examinations.
Another section of students demanded the examinations to be held online due to COVID situation in the state.
