Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday relaxed the quarantine period for people visiting the state from West Bengal two days after it announced 14-day quarantine for them.
In an official order, the Special Relief Commissioner stated that anyone who has taken two doses of COVID-19 vaccine or produces negative report of RTPCR test within 48 hours before entering Odisha will be allowed home quarantine for seven days.
On Thursday, the government had made it mandatory for people coming from the neighbouring state either by road or air to undergo 14-day institutional or paid quarantine.
The latest order further said if there is no suitable facility for home quarantine, they may opt for institutional/paid quarantine in the identified facilities for seven days.
But non-compliance of the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare or Health and Family Welfare department of Odisha Government will lead to institutional quarantine for 7 days.
The SRC order also mentioned exemption of the mandatory quarantine norm to some officials. Those coming on emergency works related to COVID-19 management to government and private hospitals as well as those deputed on election duty on the orders of Election Commission or Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha will be exempted from the quarantine.
