Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday announced the formation of a high-level committee to examine the demands of teachers, professors and employees’ associations.
The CM informed the Odisha Assembly that the committee under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar Tripathy, a retired IAS officer, will submit its report to the state government within 6 months.
He stated that his government is seriously considering the diverse demands of teachers’/professors’ and employees’ associations of government, grant-in-aid, and non-grant-in-aid private educational institutions under School & Mass Education and Higher Education departments.
The announcement came two days after primary school teachers threatened to launch a protest from December 5, demanding an increase in grade pay to 4,200 and regularisation of jobs by adding contractual years in the service book of teachers recruited from 2001-2024.
While the state government, in the past, has addressed a range of demands raised by teacher and employees’ associations, is now moving forward to establish a formal mechanism for resolving them.
