Odisha Govt Draws Up Plans For COVID-19 Hotspot Ganjam District

Bhubaneswar: With Ganjam continuing to remain the COVID-19 hotspot in the state, the government on Saturday drew up a strategy to contain the spread of the disease in district.

At a meeting presided by Health and Family Welfare Additional Chief Secretary Pradipta Mohapatra at Lok Seva Bhawan here, it was decided that round-the-clock health services at Emergency and OPD of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur will be resumed at the earliest.

Besides, an Additional Superintendent will be appointed to assist the Superintendent of the medical college in COVID management.

In order to augment the beds for the new patients, it was decided to open a 100-bed COVID Care Centre (CCC) in the MKCG, a 150-bed CCC at Bidyutpur and a 150-bed CCC at Sishumandir.

It was further decided to reserve 10 per cent of beds at CCCs and CHCs for critical patients.

Besides, teams of advisers led by a psychiatrist will be formed to tele-counsel COVID-19 patients. The recovered patients can be appointed as advisers who will counsel at least 10 patients.
