Bhubaneswar: In line with the state’s green and eco-friendly initiatives, the Odisha Government has extended the facility of providing interest-free Electric Vehicle (EV) Advance facility for its employees.
The scheme, which was set to expire on December 31, 2025, will now remain available for the employees until March 31, 2026, following the extension of the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021.
In a communication to all department heads, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra stated that the decision comes following the Commerce & Transport Department’s notification dated December 31, 2025, which extended the validity of the EV Policy.
With the extension of the advance facility, state government employees will be able to access financial support for purchasing electric vehicles without interest, encouraging a shift towards eco-friendly transportation.
As per the fresh guidelines, state government employees will have to adhere to strict timelines to avail the advance: Applications must be submitted by February 28, 2026, while sanctions and fund releases will be processed up to March 10, 2026.
All other terms and conditions from previous guidelines—issued in April 2022, March 2023, July 2023, and October 2024—remain unchanged. These include eligibility criteria, advance amounts, and repayment structures designed to make EV adoption accessible for government staff.
The initiative, introduced in 2022, aims to boost EV penetration in the state by providing up to a certain limit (as per earlier memos) as an interest-free loan, repayable in instalments. Officials believe this will not only reduce carbon emissions but also set an example for private sector adoption of green vehicles.
With the 2025-26 financial year drawing to a close, the government underlined the need to meet these deadlines to avoid disruptions. Departments have been directed to facilitate smooth processing of applications for eligible applicants.
