Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the service period of Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania till August 16, 2026.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Home Department on Wednesday.
The state government has extended the service period of Khurania till August 16, 2026 so that he would complete the minimum tenure of two years as the DGP of Odisha, the notification stated.
Khurania, a 1990 batch IPS officer, was appointed as the DGP of Odisha in August. Prior to his appointment to the top post, he served as the Special Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (BSF) before being repatriated to his parent cadre Odisha on August 2.
This extension allows Khurania to continue leading the Odisha police for a period of two years.
Khurania was serving as Additional DGP (Provisioning) in Odisha before proceeding on central deputation. He had earlier held several important posts in Odisha and served as Superintendent of Police of Nayagarh, Jajpur, Rourkela, Mayurbhanj and Ganjam districts.
He also served as DIG of southern range and northern range, Addl Commissioner of Police and Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. He was also the Director, BPSPA-cum-IG Training.
