Bhubaneswar: Following reports of COVID patients with mild symptoms occupying ICU beds in private hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Odisha government on Saturday formed four special teams to monitor the situation.
SCB Medical College and Hospital formed the special teams following a directive from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The teams will visit all private COVID hospitals in the Twin Cities to collect information about the patients admitted in ICUs.
The teams will talk to the doctors on the symptoms of the patients admitted in ICUs and accordingly direct them to shift those with mild symptoms to general beds.
The decision to form the special teams came after the Health and Family Welfare Department received a number of complaints about the non-availability of ICU beds for critical patients.
It may be mentioned that 79 per cent of the ICU beds in private COVID hospitals in the Twin Cities are now occupied.
