Odisha Govt Incentive For Students Of Closed Schools
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday decided to reward the students of the closed schools if they continue with their studies at nearby schools.
School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said the state government has decided to close 966 schools that have less than 10 students. However, to encourage the students of these closed schools, the government has allowed them to continue their studies in nearby schools. Moreover, the government will provide transport cost to these students if their new school is more than one km away from their homes, he added.
The minister further said the students will be given the transport cost if they sincerely pursue their studies. “The students having more than 75 per cent attendance will be provided a monthly incentive of Rs 600 and an annual incentive of Rs 6,000. Similarly, students having 50-75 per cent attendance will get a monthly incentive of Rs 400 and annual incentive of Rs 4,000. For those with 30-50 per cent attendance, the monthly and annual incentives will be Rs 300 and Rs 3,000, respectively. However, the students having less than 30 per cent attendance will not be given the transport cost,” he informed.
Dash said the money towards the transport cost of the students will be credited to the bank accounts of their parents and guardians.
