Bhubaneswar: After revising the eligibility criteria for varsity vice-chancellor (VC) from 62 to 63 years, the Odisha government has invited applications from professors who were earlier not eligible for the post.
The Higher Education Department, in a notification, has asked the aspirants to apply for the posts of vice-chancellor for Utkal University, Rama Devi Women’s University, Khallikote University, Gangadhar Meher University, North Odisha University and Fakir Mohan University by October 3.
According to the recent notification, the candidates applying for the post of VC should be 63 years of age as on October 1. Similarly, the tenure of the VC, which was three years, has been extended to four years from the date of joining. Besides, the retirement age of the VC has also been extended to 67 from 65.
The notification has also made it clear that those who have applied for the post of VC earlier need not apply again.
