Bhubaneswar: Acting on the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Odisha government on Wednesday issued the guidelines for the under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) final semester examinations.

The guidelines issued by the Higher Education Department are as follow:

—All state public universities and autonomous colleges shall compulsorily conduct the final semester/year UG and PG examinations between September 20 and October 10 as per the revised guidelines issued by UGC on July 6.

—Pending Back Paper examinations of Final Semester/Year UG and PG students shall also be conducted quickly.

—If need be, examinations can be conducted on holidays.

—Publication of results of final semester/year UG and PG examinations, including back paper examinations, must be made by October 31.

—Special examinations shall be held for those who cannot take the final examinations now for whatever reason(s). But these special examinations will be conducted by the Universities/Autonomous Colleges once the COVID-19 situation improves, hopefully by December 2020.

—For conducting examinations in physical mode, the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) communicated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on July 6 must be followed.

Intermediate semester/Year UG and PG Examinations:

The universities and autonomous colleges shall follow the UGC original guidelines on April 29 regarding Intermediate semester/year examinations and publish results by December 31.

General Instructions

—Each university and autonomous college shall chalk out its own plan and strategy for conducting examinations within the prescribed deadline by following appropriate UGC guidelines.

—Universities/Colleges shall also provide necessary support to Odisha State Open University for the conduct of its examinations through OSOU study centers.

—As it is a time-bound task, the university/college authorities can call any employee (both teaching or non-teaching) to duty on holidays and vacations for smooth and timely conduct of examinations, valuation, result publication and ancillary purposes.

—These decisions are also applicable to final year/semester examinations of DDCE (Utkal University and Fakir Mohan University), all types of Teacher Education programmes (2-Year B.Ed Degree/3 Year Integrated B.Ed and M.Ed Degree/4 Year Integrated B.A., B.Ed and B.Sc. B.Ed. Programme) and all Self-Financing Courses/PPP based Self-Financing Courses.

—These decisions are not applicable to courses, including Medical/Paramedical/ Pharmacy courses, run under the aegis of other departments.
