Bhubaneswar: Guidelines have been modified to allow students, who have already taken admission after phase I of UG counselling, to participate in the phase II admission process under SAMS, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj informed on Saturday.
He said the decision was taken to accommodate those left out of the process.
Earlier, the department had announced that the students, who had locked their choice, would not be eligible for second-phase admission.
“The earlier decision was taken since the admission process was getting stretched. However, several students were not aware of it since they had applied through centres. New rules are being implemented following requests from such students,” the Minister said.
“Even if a student has taken admission in the first phase, s/he will be given a chance to take part in the second phase. This change has been made keeping the students’ interest in mind. The website has been reopened for necessary action. This will be followed strictly from the next academic year,” he added.
The process began on July 12 and will continue till August 26.
