Odisha Govt Mulls Increasing ICU Beds In Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is actively considering increase of beds in the intensive care units (ICUs) of three government medical colleges and hospital and select government hospitals in the state.
Talking to mediapersons after presiding over a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat on Tuesday evening, Health and Family Welfare minister Pratap Jena said a decision has been taken to set up more ICUs or High Dependency Units (HDUs) in the three premiere government medical colleges and hospital in Cuttack, Berhampur and Burla in Sambalpur, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan) and Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack due to substantial rise in the number of the patients.
“Instructions have been given to the Health and Family Welfare department to submit a detailed project report (DPR) on the infrastructure and the human resources required for the proposed project,” the minister said.
The department authorities have been directed to expedite the completion of the ongoing projects and start the construction work of the sanctioned projects, he added.
