Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced the list of holidays for all schools and colleges for the year 2020.
According to a notification by the School and Mass Education department, there will be a total number of 82 holidays for schools next year.
The notification also informed:
—The duration of summer vacation will be from May 6 to June 18
—Out of 82 holidays, the schools will remain open on 8 holidays for the celebration of Saraswati Puja, Netaji Jayanti, Republic Day, Utkal Divas, Independence Day, Guru Divas (Teachers’ Day), Ganesh Puja, Gandhi Jayanti and Sishu Divas (Children’s Day) in presence of all teachers and staffs.
—The Dussehra vacation will be from October 22 to 31.
—The X-Mas vacation will be from December 25 to 31.
—Of the remaining 15 holidays, there will be two local holidays. The school authorities concerned will have to specify the two local holidays and submit a proposal to the Block Education Officer (BEO) by January 20.
The list of holidays specified by the Higher Education department for all Plus III government, non-government, self-financing and autonomous colleges is as follows:
—There will be a total of 72 holidays.
—The duration of summer vacation will be from May 11 to June 6.
—The Dussehra vacation will be from October 22 to 31.
—The remaining 36 holidays will be of one day.
—There will be two local holidays. The college authorities concerned will have to specify the two local holidays and inform the Regional Director, Higher Education within seven days.
—There will be no holiday in the last week of December.
