Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has issued a notification, mandating a uniform saffron-themed colour code for all new and existing government buildings during repairs and renovations.
The notification issued by the Works Department on July 30 specifies RGB shades, resembling light saffron and terracotta for exterior walls and borders respectively. “The government has been pleased for adoption of uniform colour code henceforth for all new government buildings as well as existing buildings at the time of periodical repair/ renovation works executed…,” it read.
The order, which comes into immediate effect, applies to all state government departments and PSUs.
In October last year, the department had come up with a uniform colour code for all government buildings. It had written to all engineering heads to adopt the new colour code for all new government buildings and the existing ones at the time of periodic repair and renovation works.
In March, all government schools in the state were asked to paint buildings in shades of orange frost and the borders in orange tan during constructions, repair and renovation. The Mohan Majhi government has also changed the colour and design of uniforms for secondary school students from white and green to light brown and maroon under the Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana.
