Odisha Govt Orders Action Against Absentee Teachers, Employees

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government on Tuesday, ordered action against absentee teachers and employees on Tuesday.

According to sources, 189 teachers and employees from various districts have remained absent for more than five years without any notice.

The School and Mass Education Department has directed that teachers and employees absent for be identified.

The department also asked DEOs to take the required disciplinary action against them.

In a letter directed to the DEOs, Special Secretary to the Government, School and Mass Education Department, Biswanath Pradhan, asked them not to allow the teachers and employees who have remained absent for more than five years, to resume duty failing which departmental proceedings should be instituted against them under rule-15 of the OCS (CC and A) Rules, 1962.

Out of the 189 teachers and employees, about 108 are contractual teachers and employees. The Government has ordered that their annual contracts should not be renewed.
