Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday made it clear that despite giving another three-month relaxation to the people to get their vehicle documents ready, it will act tough on those who violate the traffic rules under the new Motor Vehicles Act, 2019.
In a letter, the Transport Commissioner directed the district collectors, SPs and DCPs to carry out strict enforcement against those violating the following guidelines, which will attract fines as per the existing provisions under the new Motor Vehicle Act.
—Driving at a speed exceeding the specified limit (over speeding)
—Red light Jumping
—Drunken driving
—Driving against flow of traffic
—Using mobile phone while driving
—Dangerous driving
—Triple riding on a two-wheeler
—Driving without helmet
—Driving without a seat belt
—Overloading
“In case an offender is found to be involved in any one or more violations mentioned above, the documents of the vehicle will be checked,” the letter said.
