Bhubaneswar: With more than 200 COVID-19 positive cases registered daily in Odisha in the last two days, the state government on Friday directed all district administrations to ensure enforcement of COVID-19 regulations during the elections to affiliated Bar Associations scheduled on Saturday.
In a letter to the district collectors, SPs and municipal commissioners, additional chief secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Health & Family Welfare department has asked them to enforce the COVID-19 protocols like wearing masks and social distancing during the elections.
Mohapatra has directed to prevent gathering during the campaign by the candidates for the polls. He also made similar suggestions to the Bar Associations in the state in this regard.
It may be noted that 234 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the state for the second consecutive day on Friday. After a gap of almost two months, the infected number had gone up to 214 on Thursday.
