Bhubaneswar: Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, and the Odisha government’s Department of Disabilities will fly 44 special children in an initiative to give them the experience of the joy of flying and boost their aspirations.
The government has selected 21 girls and 23 boys from Bhubaneswar and tribal village Baripada for the special flight on January 22. The special children in the age group of 9 to 18 years will be accompanied by 21 escorts.
Before boarding the flight at Bhubaneswar airport, the children will hold a performance to celebrate their excitement. They will then be flown for 40 minutes over the city airspace.
Alliance Air had earlier taken underprivileged women for a special flight, but this is the first initiative for special children.
