Bhubaneswar: The government is taking steps to upgrade the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) to a world class university, said Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy KV Singhdeo on Friday.
The deputy chief minister said this at a review meeting on the functions of OUAT at the conference hall of Krushi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
A detailed review was conducted on various activities, infrastructure, classrooms, hostel facilities, teaching staff, and vacant positions of the university. Singhdeo emphasised timely completion of ongoing developmental works and provided necessary guidance to expedite progress.
“The government is taking several initiatives to strengthen the agriculture sector and empower farmers. In this context, efforts are underway to upgrade OUAT and transform it into a world-class university. This vision encompasses not just Bhubaneswar campus but also the OUAT campuses in other districts,” he said.
Singhdeo also congratulated everyone for successfully organising the OUAT Convocation which was attended by President Droupadi Murmu on December 5.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Special Secretary Dillip Kumar Parida, Vice-Chancellor of OUAT Prabhat Kumar Raul and other senior officials.
