Sundargarh: A day after his return to Jangarpada village in Kutra block of Sundargarh district after languishing in a Pakistan jail for 20 years, the Odisha government on Saturday provided financial assistance to Marcus Kulu alias Birju.
The Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Bhairab Chandra Patel, informed that the Sundargarh district administration has included Birju as a beneficiary of the Antyodaya Yojana under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) by providing him with a financial assistance of Rs 30,000 along with rations including a bag of rice.
He further said that as Birju has no house in his name, efforts are on to provide him a pucca house under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.
Talking about his health, Patel said that though Birju has recognized his family members, his mental condition is not stable. The district administration will take care of his health, he added.
