Bhubaneswar: As parts of its zero tolerance policy towards corruption, the Odisha government on Monday dismissed six officials from the service and permanently stopped pension of five others against whom the State Vigilance had registered cases.
The action against these corrupt officials was taken following a directive from the Chief Minister.
The six officials dismissed from the service are assistant engineer, Works Department, Kudumulugumma block (Malkangiri), Rabindra Kumar Das; junior engineer (Panchayati Raj department) Dhanakuda block, (Sambalpur) Budhiram Sudhani; progress assistant, Papadahani block (Nabarangpur) Suresh Chandra Mishra; forest range officer, Working Plan office (Angul), Hemant Kumar Panda; assistant executive engineer, Works Separtment, NH Division, Berhampur Prithviraj Lenka and assistant engineer, Water Resources Department, Hatadihi block (Keonjhar) Sushil Kumar Seth.
Among the five retired officials, whose pension has been permanently stopped, are three retired OAS officers – Nabin Seth, Sanatan Sethi and Purandar Pujari- and assistant engineer Niranjan Jena and junior engineer Pitambar Pratihari.
With this, the state government has dismissed 44 officials, sent 10 on compulsory retirement and permanently stopped the pension of 11 retired officers in the last two months.
