Bhubaneswar: With police investigation revealing spread of fake certificate racket to several districts of Odisha, the state government on Monday sought reports on fake teachers from the DEOs and BEOs within 48 hours.
Speaking to media in Bhubaneswar, Elementary Education Director Jyoti Ranjan Mishra said the directorate has directed the block education officers (BEOs) and the district education officers (DEOs) to submit their reports on the fake teachers within two days. Necessary action would be taken against the fake teachers on the basis of the report, he added.
“An SOP has been issued to the officers to trace the fake teachers. Total 300 teachers, who got appointment by submitting fake caste certificates, birth certificates and educational certificates, have been identified and FIRs filed against them,” said Mishra.
The director said it has come to the knowledge the directorate that teachers have been appointed with fake document in Balangir and its neighbouring districts.
Meanwhile, a team from Sambalpur police has left for Bargarh, Kalahandi and Deogarh to trace three candidates from these districts who had availed the fake certificates from Balangir. The police came to know about these candidates during interrogation of the mastermind of the racket Manoj Mishra by the Crime Branch.
Bipin Bihari Negi, postal superintendent, Sambalpur, told the mediapersons that they suspected that at least 6 candidates had submitted fake document during appointment to the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak posts in Sambalpur division.
“All these marksheets had produced certificates from Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. Their marksheets showed that they had secured 98%-99% in English and Odia. But we found that they were unable to write a single sentence correctly during official correspondence. So we informed the police about it,” he added.
Meanwhile, PMG Director Suresh Chandra Barik told a local TV channel that certificates of post masters and assistant post masters, who have got appointments after 2018, would be examined and action taken as per law.
