Odisha Govt To Set Up 100 Hostels For OBC, SEBC Students

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to set up 100 hostels for students belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) and Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC).

Announcing this at the State Secretariat here on Friday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said each hostel will have 100 students.

For construction of 100 hostels, the government will spend Rs 185 crore.

The proposed hostels would come up at 14 educational hubs, the Chief Minister said.

He further said the students who are pursuing higher studies in government or government aided and private educational institutions and the annual income of their parents is less than Rs 1 lakh will be eligible to stay in these hostels.

The selection will be made on merit basis, he pointed out.
