Odisha Govt Suspends OBCC Engineer With 45 Plots Arrested By Vigilance
Bhubaneswar: Four days after being arrested by the Vigilance, Additional Chief Engineer of Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) Pradeep Kumar Rath was suspended on Saturday over acquisition of assets worth crores of rupees disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Rath was arrested by the Vigilance Department on August 6 for allegedly accumulating properties worth over Rs 10 crore, disproportionate to his known sources of income, official sources.A special Vigilance court has remanded him to judicial custody till August 17.
Following his arrest and ongoing investigation, the Works Department has suspended Rath. His headquarters have been fixed at the office of Engineer (Civil) in Bhubaneswar until further order.
During his suspension, Rath is prohibited from leaving his headquarters without prior permission from the Chief Engineer (Civil) in Bhubaneswar.
The move comes as the state government adopts a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption, vowing to take action against officials involved in corruption.
