Odisha Govt Targets Construction Of 1000 Km Roads & 30 Bridges This Financial Year
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced that 1000 km of roads and 30 bridges will be constructed with a budget of Rs 2300 crore in the state during the current financial year.
The chief minister made the announcement while inaugurating a bridge near Kainphulia Chhak at Aska in Ganjam district. The bridge, which has been constructed by replacing two bridges of British Rule, will serve as an important link to different parts of the district, he said.
Besides reducing the distance from Aska, Bhanjanagar, Chhatrapur and other towns to Bhubaneswar, it will serve as a major communication link of over 3.5 lakh people.
Naveen said Ganjam is one of the developed districts of the state and the new bridge will benefit in the growth of business, industry and tourism sectors.
He further said since infrastructure plays a major role in development, the state government has been striving in this regard. World class infrastructure is being constructed in the sector of tourism sports and others, he added.
Besides 1,000-km road and 30 bridges, the government targets to spend about Rs 1,000 crore under Biju Setu Yojana and Rs 2,000 crore on village roads, he added.
On the occasion, the chief minister also appealed to the people to follow COVID-19 regulations like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands as second wave of the pandemic is still apprehended.
