Bhubaneswar: To broaden the horizon of education in Odisha and give an impetus to multi-disciplinary teaching and research, the State Cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal to accord university status to the Asian School of Business Management (ASBM).
Mentioned below are the other proposals approved in the meeting which was presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
1. The State Cabinet approved the Odisha Handicrafts Policy-2019 to expedite growth of handicrafts sector in the state, empower handicraft artisans and make them lead partners in development, focus on their welfare and maximize their income generating opportunities, create necessary physical and human capital, enhance Odisha’s share of exports of handicraft goods, focus on revival of languishing crafts, ensure preservation of craft heritage and develop a centre of excellence at State Institute for Development of Arts Crafts (SIDAC).
2. Framing of the ‘Odisha Secretariat Data Entry Operators (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2019’.
3. Implementation of Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water in the water quality-affected areas of Bhadrak district out of State Plan RIDF funding. Through this project, 6,16,838 people of 526 villages under 84 GPs of four blocks in the district will be provided safe drinking water. The Rs 754 crore project work will be taken up by M/s Megha Engineering Infrastructure Ltd, Hyderabad, and completed in two years.
4. Implementation of Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water in the mining affected areas of Keonjhar district out of OMBADC & DMF funding. Through this project, 4,13,919 people of 589 villages under 89 GPs of four blocks in the district will be provided safe drinking water. The Rs 979.82 crore project will be taken up by M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Chennai, and completed in two years.
5. Implementation of two individual Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water in the mining affected areas of Angul district out of DMF funding. Through this project, 3,40,197 people of 388 villages under 64 GPs of three blocks will be provided safe drinking water. The project work, amounting to Rs 701,86,17,500, will be taken up by M/s N.C.C. Ltd, Hyderabad, and completed in two years.
6. Implementation of two individual Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water in Khurda and Dhenkanal districts out of State Plan ‘BASUDHA’ funding. Through this project, 2,82,951 people of 390 villages of 44 GPs under three blocks of these two districts will be provided safe drinking water. The project work, , amounting to Rs 315.20 crore, will be taken by M/s JMC Projects & JWIL (JV), Mumbai, and completed in two years.
7. Implementation of two individual Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water in Mayurbhanj district out of OMBADC funding. Through this project, 1,61,722 people of 330 villages of 29 GPs under two blocks in the district will be provided safe drinking water. The Rs 430 crore project will be taken by M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Chennai, and completed in two years.
8. Permission to Health & Family Welfare department to sub-lease its allotted land in favour of private partners on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for establishment of affordable healthcare projects at different locations of the state subject to payment of concessional rate of premium as per the prevailing Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR), 2015.
9. Proposal for Odisha Children’s and Women’s Welfare Services (Amendment) Rules, 2018.
10. Implementation mechanism for the second component of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme for the landless agricultural households.
11. Widening and strengthening of existing carriageway to two-lane road with paved shoulder of Jamujhadi-Basudevpur-Dhamara Road in collaboration and cooperation with Dhamara Port Company Ltd and Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO).
