Bhubaneswar: Keeping the people’s needs during cyclone, the Odisha government has decided to come up with 26 multi-purpose buildings in Khuda district.
According to sources, the buildings will primarily serve as cyclone shelter for the people who would be rendered homeless during the natural calamity. In normal time, those can be used as Kalyan Mandap to host social functions besides meetings and congregation.
Of total 26 multi-purpose buildings in the district, 22 will be constructed in the area under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 2 in Khurda Municipality and two in NACs.
Khurda Municipality and district Revenue department have already identified the places for construction of the buildings. One is located near Jemadei Kalyan Mandap, which will accommodate 300 people. Other places include Gada Khurda with 500 capacity, Gandhi Ground for 500 and Bhaliabadi for 300 people.
