Odisha Govt To Open Cold Storage In 58 Sub-Divisions Initially, Says CM Mohan Majhi
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday said the Odisha government would open cold storages in 58 sub-divisions across the state.
The chief minister announced this during a meeting with different farmers’ organisations in Krishi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. He was accompanied by deputy chief minister and Agriculture minister KV Singhdeo and principal secretary, Agriculture department Arabinda Padhee.
Majhi said the government has planned to open one cold storage in each sub-division of the state as a first step. Since the farmers’ major problem was storing their perishable produce, this would be helpful for them.
“The government is preparing a policy for prosperity of the farmers. The government’s help from cultivation to marketing of the farm produce will be covered under it,” he added.
Besides, the deserving farmers, who have not been covered under PM Kisan Yojana, would be brought under the Central scheme, he said adding that the government is drawing up a policy in this regard.
The representatives of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Gram Vikas Parishad and other farmer’s organisations attended the meeting and expressed their opinions and suggestions.
