Bhubaneswar: In order to instil a sense of confidence and security among the frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the state government has decided to settle the claims of those who died on duty from chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF).
The collectors of respective districts have been authorised to settle the claims, as per a Health and Family Welfare department release.
Since the state government’s proposal for settlement of the claims of ‘COVID Warriors’ is pending with the Centre, the beneficiary of the dues has been asked to submit an undertaking to return the entire amount if it is borne by the Union government in future in order to avoid double payment.
Earlier, the state government had announced to provide financial assistance to the spouse or next of kin of persons who succumb to COVID-19 while in active line of duty and are not eligible for insurance coverage under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package announced by the Centre.
