Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to provide Rs 5 lakh as seed money to each of newly formed PACS and LAMPCS in the state.
A release from the chief minister’s office on Tuesday said the government had formed Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Large Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS) to extend assistance to the farmers and economically backward sections of the society.
As many as 1,542 new PACS and LAMPCS have been formed in this regard. In order to activate and strengthen these cooperation bodies, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has taken the decision to pay the seed money of Rs 5 lakh to each PACS and LAMPCS.
While the government will spend Rs 76.8 crore in this regard, the chief minister hoped that the decision would strengthen the cooperative sector and benefit the farmer community.
