Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to set up a state-level Adarsha Model School with hostel facilities for boys and girls in the city.
According to officials, the school could be up and running in the next two years.
The governing body of Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, which met here on Thursday, cleared a proposal in this regard.
The meeting also cleared the decks for opening 36 new Adarsha model schools in Odisha. The scheme entails the opening of a model Adarsha English medium school in each of the 314 blocks in the state. These schools will be affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Student strength (present): 60,000
Targeted student strength: 2.40 lakh
Schools functioning right now: 214
New schools coming up by next year: 36
Schools upgraded up to higher secondary level: 30
Hostel facilities for girls: 83 (coming up)
A dedicated portal will be launched next year to provide comprehensive information about every school and the year-round activities on the campuses.
