Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to set up promotion adalats to expedite the long overdue promotion of government employees.
A directive to this effect was issued by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday.
To boost the morale and efficiency of the government employees, the Chief Minister had directed all department authorities to complete the process of the promotion of the eligible employees by December 31 every year to ensure their promotion from January 1.
In accordance with the directive, 3166 employees were promoted to higher rank with effect from January 1 this year.
However, taking note that the remaining eligible employees could not be promoted due to some reasons, the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to set up promotion adalats with immediate effect.
As decided, the promotion adalats would be formed under the chairmanship of the additional chief secretaries. The adalat will sit in the fourth week of January every year to decide the promotion of the employees expeditiously.
