Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday said that it will decide on whether to conduct the Rath Yatra this year only after reviewing the post-lockdown situation in the state.
Informimng this to the media, Law Minister Pratap Jena said that the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee had unanimously decided to begin the construction work of the chariots and sought permission from the state government in this regard.

“Since the Centre has directed the states to strictly adhere to the lockdown guidelines, the Odisha government in this context had sought a clarification from the Home Ministry and later allowed the Temple Managing Committee to go ahead with the chariot construction work,” he said.

However, a decision on holding the mega festival will be taken after the reviewing the post-lockdown scenario, he added.
