Odisha Govt Unable To Provide Work To SHG Women: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi
Bhubaneswar: Mounting a scathing attack on Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government over issues relating to women, BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Tuesday accused it of having failed to provide work to the members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Addressing a rally at Balipatana playground on the outskirts of Odisha capital, the Lok Sabha member said that the tall claims being made by the state government about empowerment of women are false and misleading.
The firebrand BJP leader alleged that the Naveen Patnaik government government has failed to provide the members of SHGs with work and income generation opportunities despite being in power for the last over 23 years.
Coming down heavily on the BJD government, she said that merely forming SHGs will not benefit women, who need to be provided with work.
Accusing the BJD government of having failed to do anything for the empowerment of women, Aparajita claimed that the ruling party has been misleading people for the last 23 years.
On the other hand, there are allegations that women are being tortured, harassed and exploited in the state during the BJD rule, she claimed.
Stating that BJP will take all necessary steps to provide work to all women in a few years, the Lok Sabha MP said that the Central government is committed to ensure social security for women and strengthen their financial conditions.
The BJP leader, during her visit to Khurda, said that a new foot-over bridge will be constructed near PN College. She was speaking at the inauguration of Gadakhordha underpass.
